CAF U-17 Qualifiers: Uganda 1 – 2 Zambia (Zambia wins 4-1 on aggregate)
Nchanga Rangers striker, Patson Daka has been the difference as his two goals have helped Zambia Young Chipolopolo beat Uganda Cubs in a CAF U-17 qualifying tie at Nakivubo Stadium.
The young forward, scorer in the first leg at the Nkoloma stadium two weeks ago silenced a cheering partisan home crowd with a well taken low drive past Eric Kibowa in the 20th minute.
Earlier, Uganda had threatened in the opening 5 minutes of the return leg fixture watched by the State minister for sports, Charles Bakabulindi.
Half time ended 1-0 in favour of the visitors. Daka’s second 20 minutes after restart was as eye catching – a well timed half volley off a decent cross from Wayne Museba.
Uganda managed to surge late pressure on the Zambians, with a late consolation 8 minutes to full time.
Defender Edward Chimfwembe handled the ball in the forbidden area and left back, Alex Komakech made no mistake from the resultant spot kick – sending goalie, Danny Sikanyika the wrong way.
It was not long as the Seychelles officials signaled end of the game. The final whistle was treated with wild celebrations from the entire Zambian bench and a handful of fans in the stands.
The mission for Uganda is far from over with some ray of hope as Uganda has a pending petition lodged questioning the age of the Zambians.
As it stands, Zambia qualifies to the next year’s championships in Niger after a 4 – 1 aggregate scoreline.
