Uganda’s number one lady golfer Flavia Namakula, stands in the way of Tanzania’s Angel Eaton as she seeks to sweep a hat-trick at the 61th edition of the Uganda Ladies Open golf championship that tees off at the par 72 Kitante golf course at the Uganda Golf Club.

Namakula is seeking her third title at the most prestigious lady golf tournament on the Uganda Ladies Golf Union calendar having won it in 2010 and 2011 and finishing runner-up in 2012 and 2013.

“I am not talking to the press at the moment,” Flavia Namakula stated this morning after a practice round of golf at the 18 hole course. The UPDF soldier looks psyched up for the tournament as she lost her battle last year to her rival and friend Angel Eaton, who will be going all out for a treble when the action tees off tomorrow morning with 40 ladies expected to play in the Open category.

Namakula will need to play as many times in this prestigious tournaments to surpass 12 time Uganda Ladies Open winner Alice Kego. Other top lady golfers to watch include Iddy Madina Hussein from Tanzania while from Uganda there will be Monica Ntege, Eva Magala, Gloria Mbaguta.

The three day tournament is sponsored by Kenya Ports Authority, Sheraton Hotel, Nile Breweries Limited, Pinnacle Security, Crown Beverages, Avane, Motorcare, MTN and the Uganda Golf Club.
