Swimming might not the biggest sport in Uganda and neither will it get the desired publicity that Football, Rugby, Cricket, Athletics and Rugby get, but Uganda Swimming Federation has moved the sport a notch higher in Africa and in the world.
Uganda Swimming Federation president Don Rukare, will be the only African country to present a paper on the evolution of the sport in Uganda at the 3rd World Aquatics Convention in Doha, Qatar from 29th November to 1 December.
“It gives me a great honour to present a paper on the evolution of swimming in this country and mind you am the only participant from Africa that has been given the opportunity to do this,” Rukare remarked. “Swimming in this country has come a long way and now it is receiving it’s due publicity that it deserves.”
Rukare, will be the only African federation that will be presenting a paper on Creating Outstanding Development Programmes with Uganda as a case study of how Uganda Swimming Federation has evolved and developed the sport.
Other federations that will present papers include Turkey, Brazil, Singapore and Colombia.
