FUFA president Moses Magogo broke the news that the marriage between FUFA and Uganda Cranes coach Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojević will go on until 2018.
While many were speculating that FUFA would hand Micho a two year deal, FUFA decided to go for three, which will have the former Amavubi Stars tactician handle Cranes’ two major Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers
“When we calculated we decided to go until 2018 because that is when the qualifiers will end,” Magogo told journalists at the FUFA weekly press conference in Mengo.
“The reason we went for three years to ensure that we don’t remain with one year in the qualification yet the contract is done and we still have games to played” he added.
Magogo was quick to clarify that targets have been set for both Micho and FUFA where results must be delivered by Micho or they will part ways after the current deal.
“Deliverables in all performances and professional contracts are that if you don’t deliver you get the consequences and that is no renewal of the contract.”
The 2019 ACN finals in Cameroon will take in January yet Micho’s contract expires in 2018, will he coach Ugandan at the finals or not?
“We have taken care of that consideration” is all Magogo said when pressed to throw more light.
Micho has been in charge of the national team since May 2013 taking over from Bobby Williamson.
