The Basketball played on Sunday evening between Ndejje Angels and Our Saviour may not have been easy on the eye but was close a contest and Ndejje edged Our Saviour 55-52.
The win was was Ndejje’s second in as many games while the loss was also Our Saviour’s second in as many games.
Winger, Brian Odour scored game high18 ponts and center, Brian Ssentongo added added a bih double-double. The big man controlled the paint for the university side notching 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
After a poor first half in which they struggled to find the basket, new comers, Our Saviour looked much better in the third quarter out scoring Ndejje 17-15 to go into the final period down by a point. The teams matched in the fourth and with Ndejje leading by a point (53-52), Micheal Otieno was sent to the line. The guard connected both throws for Ndejje to extendlead to three.
A time out was called by Ndejje and on return Syrus Kiviiri’s contested attempt from deep drew steel and Ndejje ran away with the victory.
Sunday Okot has team high 13 points for Our Saviour (0-2) and Syrus Kiviiri had 11.
Meanwhile, Tiger Head Power blew-out Diamonds in the Sun 84-56 with new boys Sudi Ulanga and Micheal Makiadi leading the way with 22 and 15 points respectively. Old guns, Joseph Ikong and Micheal Kojo contributed 11 apiece. Ben Okumu had 18 for Diamonds (2-0).
Charging Rhinos bounced back from their season openning loss to UCU Canons with a 76-65 win over league freshers Buch Court. Allan Kobel had 19 to lead the way for Rhinos (1-1) backed by Ezra Numda and Joseph Ondyek with 14 and 10 points respectively.
In the women’s division, rampant KCCA Leopards overwhelmed league returnees, Gladiators 75-47. Joy Chemtai dropped game high 22 points in 19 minutes off the bench to pace Leopards (2-0). Muhayimina Namuwaya and Rebecca Akullo added 21 and 10 points respectively.
Joan Irama and Charine Karungi scored 11 and 10 for Gladiators (0-2).
