After a disappointing performance at the just concluded Zone 4.2 chess championship in Uganda, Fide Master Harold Wanyama is taking part in the Millionaire Satellite Chess tournament in Kenya with a revenge mission at hand.

Wanyama is in Kenya alongside two countrymen, Harunah Nsubuga and International Master, Elijah Emojong.

In one of the opening games, Wanyama outclassed fellow Fide Master,  Ritvit of Kenya.

It was one of those easiest games for the Ugandan as he needed only 18 moves  to  control the centre with a Kings Indian Defence.

He had another prey in the mould of Jonah Langat whom he tamed with the tempting Benoni attack.

Kenya’s national under 18 champion Martin Njoroge is the other player with a great for overcoming the highly rated former Olympian Clement Miheso.

Another upcoming  youngster, Subham Rai, tasted his milky fungs against Haruna Nsubuga who put up a spirited fight to hold the young tactician to a draw.

International Master Emojong is trailing with one point but missed the first round.

The next rounds continue on Friday.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
