With four months left to the 2015 AfroBasket women’s tournament in Yaoundé Cameroon, Gazelles coach Timothy Odeke believes the time is enough to prepare a formidable side.
“The good thing is that we have three months to prepare and look at videos of our opponents,” Odeke told monitor.co.ug after the draws on Saturday.
We can use that time appropriately to build a side that we compete with the best on the continent. The players we plan to use have all promised to be available, so we should be able to utilize the time accordingly.
About the draw were Uganda will play against hosts Cameroon, Mozambique, South Africa, Gabon and Mali, Odeke maintains it’s a reasonable draw.
It is a fair draw and I think we can compete. There are obviously no easy teams but when you look at our group you think we can get past the initial stage.
It’s not yet clear if Odeke and his assistants will use the players that were used in the qualifiers.
Or if they will invite back the likes of Judith Nansobya, Maureen Amonding who missed the Zone Five Championship that Uganda hosted and won, and a other Ugandans who play overseas.
