Record league champions SC Villa want their highly anticipated league fixture against current log leaders Vipers postponed.

In a statement from the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ivan Kakembo, the club want Friday May 15, 2015 tie postponed until a decision on their Appeal against loss of points in the URA FC case is made.

On Tuesday May 12, the Fufa disciplinary committee ruling overturned an earlier decision that awarded SC Villa three points from a contested game with URA in which they were accused of fielding an ineligible player; Said Kyeyune but the Jogoos have appealed the ruling.

“As most of you are already aware, the Fufa Disciplinary Committee yesterday ruled that SC Villa lose two points to URA regarding the Saidi Kyeyune TOC ruling,” read part of the statement before adding.

“This statement is to express our displeasure and dissatisfaction with the verdict because there was conflict of interest.”

SC Villa says that a conflict of interest stems from one member on the committee who was told to withdraw himself as per the Fufa Disciplinary Code but the unnamed official never obliged.

“One member of the committee was supposed to withdraw himself from the committee as stipulated by the Fufa Disciplinary Code. That official never did that. It’s on that and more grounds that we appeal this verdict.”

On that basis, the second placed SC Villa on the league table says they want the Vipers game suspended.

Our plea to the Fufa Appeals’ Committee through the Fufa Competitions Committee is to have our game against Vipers postponed from Friday May 15, until our appeal is disposed of.

Efforts to speak to Ali Mwebe; the FUFA Competitions Committee were futile as he didn’t pick his calls.

It remains to be seen whether SC Villa will be successful with their appeal and request given that URA FC provided video evidence to prove their innocence in fielding Kyeyune in the 1-1 draw with SC Villa at Lugazi.

Bernard Bainamani; the Uganda Premier League CEO reveals why their earlier decision was reversed:

“After reviewing the video evidence presented by URA, indeed there was a case of mistaken identity. The yellow card was awarded to Said Kyeyune but the referee recorded another player.

“So the committee ruled that the status quo remains, the result of the game between URA and SC Villa that had ended 1-1 stays and this overrules the earlier decision.”
URA had earlier lost the game for fielding Kyeyune for allegedly playing with three accumulated yellow cards.
The tax collectors appealed the decision reasoning that Kyeyune had served the ban thus the would be third booking against SC Victoria University which would restrict him against SC Villa was just the first as per the rules having served an earlier ban.
