After 232 fixtures so far played, the curtains on 2014/15 Uganda Premier League officially fall on a golden Tuesday.
The remaining 8 fixtures lined up this Tuesday at eight different venues will mark 240 overall games for all the clubs (30 games apiece per club).
The spot light will for one obvious reason be at the Buikwe stadium, home to Vipers Sports Club, which will be hosting tricky opposition side, Bul F.C from Jinja.
Vipers Road to Glory:
Vipers has only lost a single game in the 29 fixtures so far played (that loss coming at the hands of lowly Rwenshama 2-1 at Nakivubo stadium).
Against BUL, who have lost 8, draw 10 and won 11 matches, Vipers face a tricky outfit that has often thrived on that killer counter attacking instinct.
Midfielders, Faruku Miya and Michael Mutyaba have scored the bulk of Vipers’ goals, sharing an astronomical 19 strikes for the team’s total collection.
On the other hand, BUL’s captain, and lead striker, Patrick ‘Crespo’ Asiku stagnated on only 5 goals in the over 25 games played.
A victory or a draw for Vipers will see the Edward Golola coached side clinch their second title since inception, the first coming in the 2009/10 season.
As usual, Vipers’ strong midfield department of Ibrahim Saddam Juma, Michael Mutyaba, Kezironi Kizito and Uganda U-23 captain, Faruku Miya will be the team’s back bone.
Vipers are clear favorites needing only a draw or an outright victory to clinch the league crown, their second in history of the club, formerly called Bunamwaya.
BUL’s Hashim Sempala, Milton Kalisa, Robert Achema and captain Asiku will be the Jinja sides’ talismen.
A result less of a victory or draw for BUL and a win for Police against Soana in the Kavumba derby will see Police displace Bul in 5th position.
Police will be out to seal 5th place with lead marksman, Umar Kasumba in a desperate chase for the golden boot since he has scored 15 goals, same number as URA’s Robert Sentongo.
Will Edward Golola lead Vipers to their second title, your guess is as good as mine.
