Support for Ibrahim Kirya to be appointed as permanent Villa coach is building among influential figures with in the club and in the dressing room after the care taker guided his side to Uganda cup glory.
SC Villa crashed perennial nemesis KCC F.C 3-0 in replayed final at Namboole on Tuesday – bagging their 9th record title and pocketing Ug. Shs 7M prize money.
It left the neutral viewer with a burning question to ponder, “Should Ibrahim Kirya be instated as full head coach?”
The former Villa player has been at the helm of the club following Sam Ssimbwa’s dismissal earlier this season.
It always seemed to be a tough job for Kirya especially to team that sighted a silverware at the end of the season to emphasize the new re-structuring of SC Villa under Emmanuel Misagga.
However, at the end of the season it is like a soap opera where roles reverse, an errand boy becoming a company owner. Kirya who was initially assistant coach during Sam Ssimbwa’s spell, is the architect of SC Villa’s Uganda Cup glory.
“We appointed Kirya until the end of the season and he has done a fantastic job, but we will stick to our word until new developments.” said SC Villa PRO Ivan Kakembo. “I think that is the best thing for all of us”
Kirya’s work has also been credited by skipper Isaac Kirabira. “He has done a great job in my view. Winning the Uganda Cup with him has not been an easy task.” said Kirabira.
SC Villa now switch focus to off season overhaul as continental football is also in waiting.
