Uganda Cranes rod to Africa Nations Championship finals in Rwanda 2016 continued thanks to a 1-1 draw with Tanzania’s Taifa Stars.

John Rafael Bocco gave the visitors a deserved lead two minutes to the hour mark before substitute Keziron Kizito made it 1-1 later in the game to ensure the Cranes won 4-1 on aggregate to set up date with Sudan.

Kawowo Sports’ Ismael Kiyonga watched the Nakivubo encounter and rates each Ugandan player on the day.

James Alitho 6.0: He made two good saves to deny the Taifa Stars but his collection of crosses on the day was wanting. His distribution was fine.

Denis Okot 5.0: He put up an average performance on the day both on the defensive and offensive.

Brian Ochwo 4.0: He had a day to forget against Yanga’s Simon Msuva. He was average defensively and provided little going forward.

Shafiki Bakaki 6.0: He was the consistent of the back four. He fought for every ball both on ground and in the air and kept John Bocco a bit silent in the second half as he won most one on one battles against him.

Hassan Wasswa 5.0: The team skipper was given a torrid time by John Bocco especially in the first half. He failed to organize his backline and made unnecessary clearances at times.

Derrick Tekwo 4.0: He failed to give the back four enough cover as Tanzanian’s launched attack after attack through the middle. He limped off the pitch midway the second half.

Muzamir Mutyaba 5.0: He was Uganda’s most assured player on the ball in the midfield but was overwhelmed by the Taifa Stars’ midfield trio of Frank Domayo, Deus Kaseke and Abbas Mudathir Yahya.

Farouk Miya 7.0: He was Uganda’s best player on the day as he took responsibility especially in the second half and tested Taifa Stars’ goalie with a number of shots.

John Semazzi 5.0: He had a difficult time against Shomari Kapombe and only got past him once. It was no surprise replacing him a few minutes after recess.

Erisa Sekisambu 4.0: A brace hero in the first fixture in Zanzibar, Sekisambu was a shadow of himself as he struggled against left back Mwinyi Haji Mgwali.

Robert Ssentongo 5.0: Bagged an assist for Keziron Kizito’s goal but that was his only contribution in the game. He was pocketed by Taifa Stars’ skipper Nadir ‘Cannavaro’ Haroub for the entire game.

Substitutes:

Yasser Mugerwa 6.0: His introduction calmed things a little bit in the middle. His runs on and off the ball were also brilliant.

Frank Kalanda 5.0: He was lucky not to be sent off after a bad foul on Domayo. His big frame was a good match with Nadir Haroub.

Keziron Kizito 6.0: He scored Cranes’ only goal on the day with his first touch on the ball a minute after coming on for Sekisambu.
