Khartoum from Sudan registered the biggest win of the 2015 CECAFA Kagame Cup so far having defeated Telecom from Djibouti 5-0 on Monday afternoon at the Tanzania National Stadium.
Both teams showcased what many viewers on TV and the few spectators in the stadium have seen so far, free flowing football, even though Kwesi Appiah’s Khartoum appeared the better side in the final third.

Khartoum broke the deadlock off after an error when Ousamalia Baba was fouled by Houssein Butoyi after 21 minutes.
Ugandan referee in charge of the showdown Mashood Ssali didn’t hesitate pointing to the spot but Khartoum’s Osman Bilal Salah Eldin needed a second chance to find the back of the net to make it 1-0, after Jeef Nzokira saved his initial effort.
The Skipper found the opener having followed up, before smashing the begging ball past the Telecom goalkeeper.
Omen Ali Alkhidr was unlucky later on, failing to stretch the score line when his free header hit the post.
Telecom counter attacked to find a quick response but Warsama Hussein Said failed to level matters despite having beaten Khartoum’s custodian Mohamed Ibrahim Addalla.
Warsama was all alone the area, rushed to shoot in the wide empty net, only to miss the target by inches.
As the match unfolded further, Ousamalia Baba proved a load of work for Daher kader Mohamed, the Telecom central defender having failed to tame him.
And it was the former who released to the advancing Ali Alkhidr. His first shot was held by Kader in the area, Mashood pointing to the penalty spot for the second time with 36 minutes off the clock.
Kader saw yellow as Osman Bilal made no mistake this time round, sending Jeef Nzokira the opposite direction for a Khartoum 2-0 advantage.

Ousamalia Baba stretched the scoreline beyond Telecom’s control when he headed home the third off a Badru Eldin Aldon corner. Wagdi Awad Abdalla and Murwan Salih Abdalla followed with one each having come off the bench for the 5-0 scoreline.
It was Khartoum’s first victory of the championship. On the other hand, Telecom were condemned to their second after falling to KMKM 1-0.
Gor Mahia play KMKM in the afternoon fixture in the same group, and a win for either side will guarantee them a slot in the quarterfinal.
