Rashid Mubiru is the new man in charge of the She Cranes replacing Fred Mugerwa who was relieved of his duties with 18 days to Netball World Cup that runs from August 7-16.

Veteran Fred Mugerwa who had been at the helm of the national side for over five years was changed for what Uganda Netball Federation called poor disciplinary record at International competitions.

Mugerwa is accused by International Netball Federation for misconduct in the six nations tournament in Singapore, Africa Qualifiers in Botswana and just canceled Diamond Challenge in South Africa.

UNF Spokesperson Wilberforce Mutete says disqualification was beckoning for She Cranes if Mugerwa retained his role as head coach in Sydney.

“The organizers warned the federation (UNF) of Mugerwa’s poor disciplinary record so we decided to change immediately. The outcome was disqualification from World Cup.”

After Mubiru’s imminent appointment happened on Saturday, he resumes his duties on Monday.

A few names were speculated about but Mubiru was the surprising appointment and for his low profile, it  possess many questions.

Rashid Mubiru is Fred Mugerwa’s assistant at St. Mary’s Kitende.

She Cranes return to the World Cup since 1979 in Tridand and Tobago.
