KMKM (Zanzibar) vs Al Khartoum (Sudan) 2:00pm – National stadium, Dar es Salaam
Kwesi Appiah and his Al Khartoum resume the hunt for their maiden CECAFA Kagame Cup when they take on Zanzibar’s KMKM at National stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The Sudan side has so far posted the biggest victory at the ongoing tournament having beaten Djibouti’s Telecom 5-0 in their opening fixture.
Speaking after the victory, Appiah said his boys played well and were effective in front of goal unlike their opponents who created many goal scoring chances but failed to put them away.
“I don’t think we were much superior as the score line shows. Our opponents played equally well and gave us a good game. They did create chances but just failed to put them away.”
However in KMKM, they face a formidable side that will also be seeking to reach the last eight. The Zanzibar side won their opener 1-0 against Telecom but were wasteful in the 3-1 loss to Gor Mahia in the second thus remain on three points in third place on the Group A table.
Khartoum will rely on ex-Coton Sport striker Ousmalia Baba for inspiration while KMKM will look to Juma Mbwana Faki the scorer of their winner against Telecom.
Either points for either side will see them put a foot in the last eight of the competition. In the other Group A game, Yanga takes on Telecom while KCC FC and Adama City clash for maiden tournament points in Group C at Karume.
Wednesday Fixtures:
KMKM (Zanzibar) vs Al Khartoum (Sudan) 2pm
KCC FC (Uganda) vs Adama City (Ethiopia) 4pm
Yanga (Tanzania) vs Telecom (Djibouti) 4pm
