11TH Mbale Table Tennis Meet:
- Male Team Event: Photo Genix 3-1 Mbale Tigers
- Female Team Event: Mbale Tigers 3-0 Mbale Tigers Team C.
- Male singles: Ivan Wamunsi 3-1 Paul Mutambuze
- Female Singles: Amina Lukaya 3-1 Aminah Namaganda
Photo Genix table tennis club emerged emerged the male over all team of the 11th edition of Mbale open Table Tennis championship.
They beat Mbale Tigers 3-1 scores in the female Team event, while Mbale tigers Main Team defended the title after beating Mbale Tigers Team c on 3-0 sets.
Uganda Table Tennis cream to include the female number one, Amina Lukaya, Amina Namaganda, Amina Kibone, Zura kauka, Halima Nambozo, Litah Nakuminsta and Male Top seed Chelibe Gilton, Ivan Wamunsi, Kevin Mafabi, Ronald Nayika, Eddy Omongore and Idd Mubaraka all attended.
A total of eight teams for both female and male took part in a two day mbale open championship including Photo Genix, DMK, Mbogo High, Mbogo Collage, Kakungulu memorial Team baggers all from kampala, Team ken from Nairobi and Mbale progressive, Mbale tiger TT Club the host
In the final Results Female and male Age group Single category Number one Amina Lukaya last years runs up won this year’s mbale Open after beating the defending champion Amina Namaganda Uganda’s number 2 on 3-1 scores.
Namaganda accepted defeat;
I did not have enough training because of my ongoing internship and my opponent Lukaya was too patient, intelligent and she used allot of skills and tactics.
The champion Lukaya noted;
I wanted this win very much as i want to maintain my top Ranking position and preparing for All Africa games
In the Male singles; Photo Genix’s Ivan Wamunsi won his first ever title in the Mbale open after challenging the first T T all Africa games -Ugandan bronze medalist ,Paul Mutambuze on 3-1 scores, Ivan Wamunsi captain also helped his side to beat Mbale tigers in the final of the team events.

Halima Nambozo who won this year’s National secondary school Ball games in Mbarara emerged the win under 19 female singles on 3-1 set after challenging fellow classmate at Mbale Progressive School Litah Nankuminsta who earlier stopped her recently on finals stage of the Nabisunsa national schools TT tournament.
Meanwhile, in the under 19 boys, Alex Wakumale of Mbale progressive school beat Steven Kalimajji of Kampala DMK club on 3-0 sets.
All the Mbale Tigers athletes won under 13, 10 boys and girls singles.
Irene Nekesa, a p.6 pupil at North primary school and defending champion Nabisunsa national schools Tournament won Mbale open Under 13 girls singles defeating fellow teammate Jane Buteme on 3-0 scores.
In the U-13 Boys’ category, Brian Mayune beat Dennis Nagaba on 3-0 sets win and U-10 girls Kelly Ayikuru stopped Jalia Nandutu on 3-0 sets and U-10 Boys category Dennis Magaba overcame Juma Wabugoya on 3-0 set’s victory.
The event was held at Manafwa high school hosted by Mbale Tigers Club.
