CAF U-23 Championship Second Round – Second Leg:

Uganda 0-1 Egypt (HT)

Aggregate Score: Egypt 5-0 Uganda

Mahmoud Abdelmonem Abelmamid Soliman’s 11th minute opener gave the Young Pharoahs the half time cutting edge over the Uganda Kobs in the CAF Championship return leg at Nelson Mandela Stadium.

The cautious Egyptians started the game on a bright note when Mahmoud Salem Aly Abdelkhader broke through inside the game’s opening 60 seconds only for El Merriekh goal keeper, Salim Jamal to save the day.

Uganda recomposed and on two occasions missed close target through the lone lead striker, Fahad Muhammed Hassan and Yunus Sentamu.

The visitors deservedly took the lead when Abdelkhader raced onto a though ball to slot the ball into the net past the advancing defenders.

Yunus Sentamu would have put Uganda on level terms had he successfully rounded goalie Mossad Awad Mossad.

The second half presents a much more challenge to Uganda who now need 6 goals.
