KCC FC goalie Emmanuel Opio admits it’s hard to take after losing 1-0 to Azam in the semi-finals of this year’s CECAFA Kagame Cup.
Opio; whose goal was breached for the first time in the tournament believes his side were the better on the day and should have won the game.
“It’s hard to take,” he told Kawowo Sports after the game. “We controlled the game well from the first minute and I think we were the better side on the day. We deserve not to lose,” he added.
Opio had earlier made two brilliant saves to deny John Bocco and Kipre Tchetche from giving Azam the lead but could do little to stop Farid Musa’s strike in 15 minutes to time.
KCC FC will now face off with Sudan’s Khartoum on Sunday for 3rd place which will see the winner get away with $ 10,000.
“Focus now shifts to third place and we shall give it our best,” he concluded.
Last year in Kigali, KCC FC were beaten by home side Police FC in a penalty shootout as they finished fourth.
