Savio Kabugo may be one lucky Ugandan footballer. After all, he signed with KCCA in January 2015 but was released late May without kicking a ball for them thanks to a nagging injury.

When coaches Mike Mutebi and Sam Ssimbwa took over at the club, he was among the eleven players released by the club with Ssimbwa stating that they couldn’t keep an unfit player.

However, in a twist of events, the defender seems to be nearing a return to the famous Lugogo as confirmed by the player.

“I spoke to the club and there is an agreement in place but we are yet to put anything on paper,” he told Kawowo Sports.

“One of the conditions is that they treat my injury till am 100% fit but then, I should only play for KCCA in Uganda. No other club,” he added.

Coach Sam Ssimbwa confirmed the development but insisted he only returns when fit to play. “He is almost back at Lugogo but his fitness is still under scrutiny. When fit, he will be with us.”

Efforts to speak to club CEO David Tamale were futile as his known mobile contacts couldn’t be reached.
