Earning a national team cap is the ultimate dream of many footballers in the country and it’s no different for Sports Club Victoria University’s Farouk Kawooya.

Every player wants to play for the national team and I am not different.

The midfielder who is playing his second season in the top flight league with SCVU and has so far netted three goals – two of which have been match winners (against Soana F.C and URA F.C) says it only motivates him to get better.

It’s a great feeling to score goals especially against big sides. It just gives me a go ahead to push forward my talent.

Kawooya along with Titus Lubega and Nicholas Kagaba are forming a formidable combination and could turn out not only to be a nemesis for most defenses in the league but also the reason SCVU will stay in the Uganda Premier League.

I think our combination with Nicholas (Kagaba) and Titus (Lubega) is good and it has been seen (by the coaches) that together we can do something upfront

The former Aurum Roses F.C and The Saints F.C player says this is his time to get on to the national team.

I think this is my time to also make the national team and that is why I work so hard. I am not resting because I have not done anything yet but I just have to keep proving myself because I want to ascend to the national team.

It would be great if I make the CHAN team. It would be a great start and it is where I want to start and it’s why I put in a lot of effort.
