Ndejje Elites qualified for their fourth straight National Volleyball League finals after they defeated Sport-S 3-0 in game two of the best three semifinal series.

After a hard fought 3-2 win in game one, the Luwero side put up a more spirited performance on Saturday night at Lugogo.

Ndejje’s coach, Johnson Kawenyera has put the feat down to discipline and teamwork.

It’s not a miracle that we have made the finals again despite having so many new and inexperienced players on the team. We have worked hard to be here and the junior players are willing to listen and learn from their seniors.

Service has always been a significant part in the game of volleyball and Ndejje knowing that, they improved themselves in that area and it was evident as they took the first set 25-18.

Coach Johnson Kawenyera switched his liberos Amina Namwanje with Varoline Aanyu, the latter lived up to the expectations of her coach.

She always came on for skipper Belinda Jepkirui for reception and cover, together with the middle players. Ndejje stretched their lead rather comfortably 25-17.

Middle players, Christine Alupo and Sharon Amito bullied Sport-S on the net, the duo made life hard for Sport-S’ attackers Astreede Agaaba and Eunice Amuron.

Just like it was in game one where Sport-S gave away comfortable lead, to get Ndejje back into the game, they led the third set 17-12, the two time champions chased the set until they won it 25-21.

It was the first time Sport-S were playing in the playoffs and their coach Deo Winyi blamed his team’s poor show on the limited number in personnel.

I don’t have depth like Ndejje did, they have the luxury of 12 players and they were rotating them well, while on our side we had to work with those we have at our disposal

Ndejje Elites who won the league in 2012 and 2013 will wait for the winner between UCU Lady Doves and league holders Vision Volleyball Camp to know their opponents in the finals.
