Ahead of the match anticipated football final at the 16th Inter-University Games between Mbale’s Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) and Luwero based Ndejje University, the former’s coach, Harunah Kebba has tagged his side as ‘under-dogs’.
The final on Monday will witness the official climax of the games that have progressed for the previous five days at Busoga University sports facilities.
Kebbah, also the Uganda Sand Cranes head coach said;
We do not have any star that we look to, we are a unit and a team. We start the game as under-dogs but that does not mean we shall not raise to the occasion
IUIU shocked Eddie Butindo’s Kyambogo University 4-2 in the shoot-out, a side many pundits and football followers had pitted to strongly challenge for this year’s championship.
Against a high riding Ndejje University outfit, IUIU face the test of character.
Besides a troublesome knee for their goalie, the rest of IUIU’s players are in shape to compete.
Key Players:
Ndejje University will look to the dribbling mastery of midfielder, Elias Lutaaya, the robustness of Alfred Onek as well as the sharp poaching instincts for their two lead forward – Samuel Matovu and top scorer Paul Ddumba for inspiration.
The ‘NduLions’ team also looks forward that crucial leadership and sense of direction from goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo.
On the other hand, Kebbah is expected to parade a more tactical team with a defensive strategy basing on his much stressed team work bond.
Ishaaq Mukalazi, Alimansi Wambuzi, Musa Ssewanyana, Muhammed Nakiibi and Osman Miragi are the key pillars in the Mbale based team.
IUIU has only one football crown, won in the 1995 games.
Ndejje University are the football and overall game’s defending champions.
