Sunday January 17, 2016 DR Congo Vs Ethiopia – Huye 3pm Local Time (4pm EAT)
Ethiopia make their Africa Nations Championship finals debut with a daunting task as they take on former champions DR Congo at Huye.
The two sides will be vying for maximum points in their group B opening match and a tough encounter is expected as CHAN moves to Huye.
The Ethiopians; Central East Africa Zone representatives alongside hosts Rwanda and regional champions Uganda will hope familiarity with the situation in Rwanda gives them edge.
However, in DR Congo, they face their biggest test as the nation is also familiar with football in the region. In fact the Lions of DR Congo played a friendly game against the hosts which they lost 1-0 and thus acclimatization won’t be difficult.
The 2009 champions; inaugural winners of the tournament have never missed any edition finishing at quarter final stages in 2011 and 2014. In the other group game on the day, Angola will take on Cameroon.
