On Thursday, we did report on how former Uganda Cranes Coach Bobby Williamson was on the verge of exiting the Kenya national team coaching role since the new FKF executive headed by Nick Mwendwa showed no interest.
A day later, it’s confirmed that the Scot who won four CECAFA Challenge titles with the Cranes has been relieved of his duties.
Williamson who took over the top coaching job in Kenya in September 2014 has been replaced by Stanley Okumbi while the legendary Musa Otieno stays as the assistant coach as well as Gor Mahia’s Frank Ouna.
Williamson has failed to replicate his winning touch with Harambee Stars after enjoying great success with Uganda where he coached over 35 games and lost just seven.
Okumbi was coach of Mathare United in the 2015 Kenya Premier League season and has previously handled the national U-23 side.
He is expected to be unveiled over the weekend.
