Rwanda has moved one place higher in the latest world ranking published by the World Chess Federation (FIDE) earlier this month.

The nation moved from 155 to 154 on the global stage following the Rwanda Open Chess championship held in Kigali that had several local players increase their individual ratings after great performances.

Rwanda had earlier risen seven places in December last year thanks to playing host of its second rated chess tournament where five local players garnered points ti improve their ratings.

Uganda is at number 92, Kenya 121, Tanzania 159 and Burundi 158. South Sudan is not among the 174 countries listed by FIDE.
