How fast times change. Former Uganda Premier League club, Kira Young find themselves down the drain less than 12 months after being demoted to the FUFA Big League.

The Kira Municipality based club has been relegated to the fourth division for forfeiting three Big League matches.

The matches in question are fixtures 179 (against Onduparaka F.C), 210 (away to Boma Young F.C) and 230 (against Bukedea Town Council).

A communique from the FUFA Competitions department, headed by Ali Mwebe reads in part;

The Competitions Department has taken note of your club’s in-consistence in honoring away fixtures of the scheduled 2nd round matches of the FUFA second division/FUFA Big League. This contravenes FUFA competitions regulations, Article 25fixture management and fulfilment, Paragraph (8), “Any club in a league format that does not turn up for three (3) fixtures in a season and their explanation, under Art 25(4), is not accepted in all the three(3) incidences shall be, b) Demoted to the respective DFA 4th Division if the defaulting club plays in the FBL; Indeed, the secretariat did not receive any communication from your club. Kira Young has therefore been demoted to Wakiso District Football Association, 4th Division League for 2016/17.

Kira Young F.C was relegated at the end of the 2014/15 season.

The statement further clarifies on the status of the results and league standings;

Concerning the results and league standings following this development, article 25(10) as hereunder has been invoked; (10) If at the time of withdrawal the club has played 50% and above of the league, the results of the first round shall be sustained while all the results of matches in the second round shall be nullified

This means for all the clubs that had played Kira Young in the second round, their results shall be nullified.
