After seeing his team overcome Police in the ‘forces battle’ on Tuesday, Maroons’ head coach Paddy Kintu couldn’t shy away from expressing his blissfulness but noted it could be a start to his team’s long journey to redemption.
In an equally contested affair, Patrick Kaddu’s lone goal separated the two sides as Maroons registered their third victory of the season.
“It was a tight game especially in the first half” Kintu who replaced Asaph Mwebaze as Maroons coach last year in December commented “We could’ve easily lost it in the first half because they missed a couple of chances but we held on till the second half where we took control of the game”
Kintu also of the two tacticians got his substitutions spot on as the introduction of Salim Kiyaga in the beginning minutes of second half paid off .
“I thought we needed to attack more so I had to introduce Salim (Kiyaga). It helped us a lot because Musa (Ssali) had to take his preferred position”
The prisoners now switch their concern to Saturday’s game in Jinja where they’ll play Sadolin Paints at Bugembe stadium
“We are taking on a team that’s on form. Sadolin is a good side but we hope we can pick a positive result. We are obviously going to give our best”
Kintu’s charges are bottom of the table but the tactician says they’ll keep fighting and that ‘it’s not over yet’
“It is still a long way for us but we will not stop fighting. It’s not over yet, anything can happen”
