Soana Football Club head coach, Charles Ayiekoh Lukula hailed his players’ positive character in the approach to their 3-3 draw in the Uganda Premier League encounter against 16 time record league winners, SC Villa at Nakivubo stadium on Friday.
I salute the players for fighting hard to recover from two goals down and again falling down then recovering to make it 3-3.
It was incredible.
When Soana fell two goals down courtesy of Martin Kizza and Mike Ndeera by the 12th minute, Ayeikho called for the first change of the game two minutes later.
Towering defender Ibrahim Ayub Kizza, who was signed from Express in the January 2016 transfer window was replaced by the team skipper, Timothy Musinguzi as they regained stability at the backline.
The substitution got us organized at the back
Soana pulled a goal back through Allan Kayiwa’s long range attempt that caught SC Villa goalie Nicholas Ssebwato napping in the 26th minute before levelling matters seven minutes later through Musa Esenu.
Soana again fell to Kizza’s tapped in goal before a Ssebwato howler granted Dan Wagaluka the bragging rights from over 40 yards.
The former KJT/Rwenshama coach has now set his focus on the Uganda Cup and the two remaining league matches against Police and Bright Stars.
On Thursday 19th May 2016, they await to travel to either Busia or Arua for the Uganda Cup quarter final match.
In the league, they play Police on 24th May 2016, in the highly billed Kavumba derby before crowning a memorable season with a trip to Bright Stars on 27th May 2016.
Soana is now 4th on the 16 team table with 45 points from 28 outings.
