2016 CECAFA Women Championship:

September, Kampala

Eight countries have so far confirmed participation in the 2016 CECAFA Women Football Championship set to be hosted in Kampala.

The confirmed countries were made known to the the media by Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) president, Moses Hashim Magogo.

Magogo told the media on Tuesday during a press briefing that so far, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan, South Sudan, Rwanda and Ethiopia are the countries that have shown interest to take part in the September 2016 championship.

We have so far got eight countries which are willing to take part in the 2016 CECAFA Women championship.

The dates are subject to confirmation with the CECAFA secretariat but we are sure the tournament will take place in September 2016 after the Uganda Cranes’ match with Comoros.

Magogo added that they are yet to hear from Eritrea, Zanzibar, Somalia, Djibouti and Zanzibar.

Uganda took up the task to host the championship after no country expressed interest in hosting the championship.
