Nakiwala was excited to join hands with the R.G Foundation and believes this is the start of other long term partnerships between companies and sports firms.

“Given the huge fan base of Express and popularity across the country, we expect similar partnership. This R.G Partnership will drive the club a step or two further especially with the opportunities of exposing our young players” the minister cum chairperson remarked.

Through the partnership, Rayco will share ideas with the Express technical and administrative wings on strategies of how to run a football club given the fast rising modern trend of life.

Garcia rose to prominence in Uganda when he single handledly spurred the campaign to bring the Barcelona legendary footballers to play a select side of the former Uganda Cranes internationals at a high profile match played at Nelson Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

The Uganda Cranes ex-stars defeated the Barcelona Legends 5-3 in a match lit by a wonder goal from over 40 yards by Patrick Kluivert.

The main purpose of the match among others was to boost the tourism potential of the country as well as raise funds for a state of art football academy in Uganda.

This is the second partnership for Express after a similar arrangement for On The Ball (OTB), a non governmental organization run by Irishman, Karol Gallagher, signed and launched in 2015.
