Ronald Sebuguzi and Leon Ssenyange will rue the missed opportunity to close the gap in the NRC title chase.

Despite taking an early lead, Sebuguzi was forced out of the Kabalega Rally with mechanical issues.

The misfortunes drop the Shell Team to third position on the standings; 185 points behind leader Mangat.

With 240points at stake in the remaining two events, it could take more than luck for Sebuguzi to find his way to the top as his rival only needs to finish in the top five to seal his title.

Meanwhile the team via their Facebook page turned down the allegations that they forgot their timecard at the time control.

“Words going about that we forgot our time card are entirely false. Marshals had wrong times that were not in sync with the time we were running on,” reads the statement on the team’s Facebook page ‘Team Sebuguzi’

“Somehow the Marshals did not enter times in my card which they accepted, it was our responsibility to check but didn’t knowing that we are dealing with experienced marshals.”

“We realised it at the time control of stage five, and the only option was for the co-driver to head back to the control to get the times which costed us at the service control with a 3minutes, 40seconds penalty,” it continued.
