  • Kirinya-Jinja S.S Vs BUL – Bugembe, 4:00 p.m

Contrasting egos, pride and points aside, Kirinya-Jinja S.S takes on Bul on Tuesday at the Kyabazinga stadium in the Uganda Premier League with a lot to play for.

First, it is a derby match that neither club would wish on any day to lose, lest face death at worst.

Then, looking at the leader-board after six games, it is virtually hard to trace either sides on the 16 team log.

Besides, for six games now, Kirinya-Jinja S.S has not won any league game since being promoted to the top flight in May 2016.

The casualty list at Kirinya-Jinja S.S is not getting any better given the injuries to forward Johnson Wakalaita, first choice goalkeeper Tom Ikara, Fredrick Kigozi, Isa Baraza and the robust center forward David Kizza.

Boost for Sapewo:

Ceasar Sapawo who featured in the club’s 14-0 victory in the friendly match against Semuto on Sunday makes a timely return to face his former side.

Goalie Joel Mutakubwa is obviously Ikara’s natural replacement and Julius Debbo is expected to continue the left back responsibilities at a time Kigozi continues with the recovery process.

The quest for goals will dwell upon the fast improving Joel Madondo, and Sapawo with the steady supply of the crafty though diminutive midfielder Mark Bamukyaaye as the two fast wingers – Ibrahim Kazindula and James Otim maneuver off either flanks.

Spoilers’ Role:

Depending on Alex Isabirye’s tactics planned on the day, Godfrey Akol and George Kasonko are available to be used in the midfield blocking roles where one could be chosen or both.

Team Bul:

Still basking in the away glory of that 1-0 victory against Express at Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku, Bul is targeting the second win in six games played thus far.

Frank ‘Video’ Anyau will take part in his first Jinja derby since joining the Kakindu based side.

He is expected to name an attack minded side with Milton Kaliisa, Yunus Sibira, Augustine Nsumba, Nkolo Blaise, Julius Malingumu and Titus Lubega expected to be granted a run in to the game.

Goalkeeper Paul Mujampani paves way for Emmanuel Kalwoya after the latter picked an injury in the loss against KCCA.

After falling to KCCA 3-1 last Saturday, Anyau echoed the team will bounce back in fashion;

Am optimistic we shall respond well. We respect each opponent and we shall handle them (KJSS) like any other game

BUL takes on Jinja SS for the first time in league history. This will also be Isabirye’s maiden chance to turn guns onto his former pay masters since tendering in his resignation in August 2016.
