In April this year, Algeria Football Federation (AFA) named Serbian Milovan Rajevac as coach in place of French man Christian Gourcuff.

The decision to throw in the towel came in the aftermath of a 1-1 draw with Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions in the Group B of the 2018 World Cup qualifying.

According to BBC Sport, the 62-year old met with the FA president Mohamed Raouraoua on Tuesday and his departure was announced shortly after words.

He leaves the Desert Warriors two points behind Nigeria who beat Zambia 2-1 on match day one of the group stages.

Algeria’s next 2018 World Cup qualifier is away to Nigeria on 12 November.

Only the group winners will qualify for the tournament in Russia.
