Mamelodi Sundowns manager Pitso Mosimane insists he will not change the club’s playing philosophy in the first leg of the CAF Champions league final against Zamalek SC at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
The 52 year old tactician was quoted by Kingfut.com as;
When you play away, the home team is under pressure, because if you score one goal, they have to score two to beat you.
We have a slightly different playing style to that of the Arabs, who are not comfortable to deal with the way we play.
We have a plan for Saturday. The plan is to stay the way we are. We played the same way against Zesco United‚ scoring two goals.
So let’s stay on this story of two goals. It’s been consistent‚ so let’s not spoil it.
So I will go with what I know‚ what has brought us to the final‚ and I think the coach will do the same thing on the other side. Top coaches don’t change things – your Mourinhos‚ Guardiolas, they don’t have a new plan on a new day – and then you want to pull a rabbit out of a hat‚ and it backfires on you.
In every game we play we learn lessons. We learnt a lesson against Wits in the MTN8 final and we want to take that with us to the game against Zamalek on Saturday.”
It’s not about what people think about you as a better team but what you can do as a team in fighting to win that trophy. We will be hungrier both on Saturday and in the second-leg so that we can lift the Champions League trophy
The South Africa-based club progressed to the final after beating Zambian side ZESCO United 3-2 on aggregate, losing the away leg but recovering in the home leg.
The return leg will be played at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria on October 23rd.
