The adage ‘when a door closes, there is another one bound to open’ is a reality in the face of referee William Wilberforce ‘Engineer’ Oloya.

Suspended by the FUFA Referees Standing Committee for disallowing a KCCA goal that seemed genuine against Kirinya-Jinja S.S, Oloya earned a trip to Gaborone, the capital of Botswana for the Non FIFA course that lasted two weeks.

By the close of business, he was the best overall in physical fitness and third best in the entire class that attracted referees from all over Africa.

Oloya summarizes the course attended and hints of the next step after being suspended by FUFA;

About the course, I am happy of my own performance.

It was a very educative and enriching course worthy attending.

I respect the ruling given to me.

That is the nature of our job. I will make the final decision when I return back home.

The closure of the course was graced by the Botswana Football Association (BFA) Vice president, the Technical Director and the course instructors Felix Tangawalima from Zimbabwe, Nigeria’s Falicia Cokwugba and Bento Venesse from Mozambique.

A total of 39 referees participated in the week long course attended by non-FIFA badge holders.

Oloya is among the center referees that FUFA recommended to CAF and FIFA for the prestigious FIFA Badge come the new epoch 2017/18.
