Police 1-0 Kirinya
Sadat Kyambade came to Police’s rescue with a vital 32nd minute goal to earn the Cops a crucial 1-0 win over Kirinya-Jinja SSS in the Uganda Premier League on Saturday at Kavumba Recreational ground.
The Cops had gone into Saturday’s game without a home win this season having failed to edge their opponents in their previous games. The closest they had come to victory was against Express, but the game ended 3-3 .
The win gave Police a massive boast as it meant they have collected four points from two games since Sam Timbe’s resignation.
Kyambade’s first league goal this season also handed Police their second win of the campaign while subjecting the league debutants to a fourth defeat of the campaign. The side is yet to see victory since their promotion to top flight.
Of the five visits, Kirinya-Jinja SSS has taken this season, four have ended in defeats, Saturday’s inclusive.
With 11 points, Police sit a place above relegation, four points ahead of Kirinya-Jinja who occupy the fourteenth position in the league.
Up next for Alex Isabirye and his charges is a league game against Bright Stars at Bugembe Stadium.
