Ivory Coast defender Serges Pascal Wawa Sfondo will be a teammate to Uganda Cranes’ goalie Salim Jamal at Sudanese club El Merreikh.

The bearded defender, 30, on Monday signed a two-year deal after leaving Tanzanian side Azam.

Wawa has been a free-agent after the expiry of his employment contract at the Chamazi based side he joined in 2014.

His only silverware at the club was the 2015 CECAFA Club Championship under coach Stewart Hall.

Conspiracy theories for Wawa’s failure to renew his contract point to the stained relationship with Spanish coach Zeben Hernandez who deemed the center half as excess baggage at the club since May 2016.
