Brian Kansiime netted a double in Mbarara City’s 2-0 home win against Airtel Kitara football club at Kakyeeka Stadium in Mbarara on Sunday.

This was the only game of the FUFA Big league played on the day in the Rwenzori group.

The victory helps Richard Makumbi’s coached side close gap on run away leaders Masavu.

Mbarara City now  has 17 points, three short of the Rwenzori group leaders who defeated visiting Kireka United 2-1  last Thursday at Katabi Gombolola play ground in Entebbe.

Both clubs have played the same number of games (9).

Three clubs will be promoted to the Uganda Premier League at the end of the season. The top side per group qualify directly as the third is determined via a promotional play off.
