KCCA Leopards 75-78 UCU Lady Canons (OT)

With their backs on the wall, defending champions UCU Lady Canons needed to make a response.

On Wednesday night, the university side defeated Leopards 78-75 in overtime to force the championship game.

The two sides shared the first half with KCCA winning the first quarter 18-14 and UCU taking the second 16-7.

KCCA edged the third 19-18 but trailed by four heading into the fourth.

Turning Point

With UCU Lady Canons leading 65-60 with just under two minutes to play, KCCA’s point guard Falvia Oketcho (17 points) drained a 3 pointer, connected a free throw that was followed by a jumper and the four-time champions led 66-65 with 45 seconds.

Martha Soigi sent Ritah Imanishimwe (16 points) to line and the guard connected the second of the throws to tie the game at 66.

Judith Nansobya took charge of overtime scoring all UCU’s 12 point of the frame to accumulate game high 26 points.

Soigi had team high 24 points for KCCA and Muhayimina Namuwaya scored 13. Sarah Ageno scored 12 points and picked game high 12 rebounds for UCU.

Winner takes it all game is Friday at YMCA.
