For submitting their final 23 man squad for the 2017 AFCON finals 24 hours after the official date, Zimbabwe Football Federation will be fined $2000 (about Shs 7M) by the continental footballing body, CAF.

Head coach, Callisto Pasuwa finally released the final Warriors 23 man squad on Thursday.

All the players part of the AFCON qualification campaign have been retained in typical spirit of rewarding their services.

Three players Marshall Mudehwe, Nelson Chadaya and Farai Madhananga are the three players left out of the final squad.

All the three goalkeepers summoned are locally based with Donovan Bernard (How Mine), Tatenda Mkuruva (Dynamos) and Takabva Mawaya (Hwange).

Chicken Inn defenders Tennage Hadebe and Lawrence Mhlanga, Dynamos’ Elisha Muroiwa and Caps United strongman Hardlife Zvirekwi are the other based troops.

All the midfielders and strikers on the team ply their trade outside the country.

Newly signed SC Sfaxien towering center forward Mathew Rusike, vastly experienced Knowledge Musona of KV Oostende in Belgium and Mamelodi Sundowns’ tricky midfielder Khama Billiat leads the brains to look for the Warriors goal quest.

The team captain is Willard Katsande, who turns out for South African giants Kaizer Chiefs.

The Warriors played to a goalless draw with Cote D’Ivoire on boxing, a fixture where home based players featured prominently on either sides.

The team departs this weekend for the tournament that kick’s off on 14th January 2017.
