Ghana will be without left back Baba Rahman for the rest of the 2017 Africa Nations Cup tournament.

The youngster was injured in the 1-0 win over Uganda Cranes at Port Gentil on Tuesday and left the pitch on stretcher towards the end of the first half as Frank Acheampong replaced him.

The sad news as per Ghana’s camp was confirmed by Baba’s German club, Schalke 04 in a tweet revealing the 22-year old will fly to Gelsenkirchen for further examination and treatment.

“Initial diagnosis of #Baba’s injury shows a bruised meniscus. The #S04 man is returning to Gelsenkirchen for further examination,” Schalke said on their official Twitter account on Wednesday.

Ghana face fellow West Africans Mali on Saturday January 21 and end their group games with a date against Egypt on January 25 at Port Gentil.

Avram Grant’s side top group D with 3 points after the first round of games.
