The Egypt national team have been hit by a goalkeeping crisis after goalie Ahmed El-Shennawy has been ruled out of the tournament.
El-Shennawy was withdrawn mid-way the first half after he got injured in the goalless draw with Mali at Stade de Port Gentil and joins Sherif Ekramy on the sidelines leaving the Pharaohs with only one fit goalie in El Hadary.
“Medical scans confirmed that El-Shennawy will not be available to play for us again as he will need to rest for two weeks,” Egypt team manager Ihab Lehita confirmed to the press.
In a few hours more medical tests will be made on the player to know exactly how long he will be away for.
But a few hours later, he confirmed the player will not be able to start training again for at least a fortnight days.
The Egyptians take on Uganda in a must win game on Saturday with El-Hadary as the only fit goalkeeper for Egypt.
