Zimbabwe Warriors head coach Calisto Pasuwa resigned after his side crashing out of  the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations at the group stages.

The 46-year-old tactician told The Herald, that it was time he quit the team and concentrated on club football.

A rather emotional Pasuwa appreciated his family, ZIFA President, his coaching staff, his players, friends and a wide range of team staff members.

The paper quoted Pasuwa;

Following Zimbabwe’s participation at the African Cup of Nations in Gabon, where we unfortunately failed to go beyond the Group B stage, I think I should step aside and make way for another coach to take over.

I am sorry we let the nation down in Gabon, but I believe if we can learn and build from this experience, we will do better in the next campaign and like I said, the foundation is there now for the future Warriors to work on

He has been in charge of the team for two years, led them  to the CHAN 2016 in Rwanda as well as the AFCON 2017 in Gabon.

Zimbabwe started on a sound note drawing 2-0 against Algeria, fell 2-0 to Senegal in the second match before being humiliated 4-2 in the final group C match against Tunisia.
