Aside from pocketing cash prize, the winner in this FIDE rated tournament will earn the International Master [IM] title in the Open category and Woman International Master [WIM] in the Women category.

The winner in the Open category will also qualify to represent the African continent at the 2017 FIDE World Cup in Butami Georgia come September.

Egyptian Fide Master Kandil Adham is the defending champion in the Open category. Adham won the event with seven points last year in Tanzania.
