Onduparaka Football Club survived a scare, recovering from a goal down to win 2-1 over Mbarara Football Club in the Uganda Cup at the Kakyeeka Stadium.
After a goal-less first half, the game was ignited by a Michael Muhangi shock opener from the hosts 10 minutes after re-start.
Onduparaka team skipper Shaban Muhammed then missed from 12 yards following a penalty was awarded to the West Nile side.
Moments later, the visitors had a goal disallowed for offside, a move that prompted the fans to react bitterly as the game was paused for a moment.
Play resumed as calmness was restored and Onduparaka equalized through Dickens Okwi.
The former Sporting United striker scored the equalized with 25 minutes left on the clock against the run of play for his first goal since joining the Caterpillars last season.
Two minutes later, Ceasar Samson Okhuti scored the winner, much to the delight of the visiting fans.
Onduparaka, last year’s runners up in the same cup advance to the Round of 16.
Also, on the same day, URA ejected Jinja side BUL 1-0 at the Mehta Stadium.
At Nakivubo stadium in the heart of Kampala City, Police defeated The Saints 4-1 and JMC Hippos needed a 5-4 post match victory to edge out Ndejje University after normal time had ended goal-less.
Sadolin Paints pipped Agape 1-0 at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
The other successful sides that made the round of 16 stage in the Uganda Cup are KCCA, Express and Buganda Regional side, Kiboga Young.
The other Round of 32 games in the Uganda Cup will be played this coming Sunday.
Bright Stars host Baza Holdings at the Champions stadium whilst Kataka will entertain Synergy at the intimidating and bumpy Nabini playground in Mbale.
