Hours after being declared dead by the club Chief Executive Officer, Kyambogo Football goalkeeper Ronald Kiggundu has come out to ‘rubbish’ the allegations.
Kiggundu, now in Dubai on a working trip was announced dead by the club CEO, Charles Ssemanda who wrote to FUFA Competitions Department conveying the sad news’ on Saturday.
Consequently, FUFA pushed ahead their would be Sunday’s game against Maroons to a future date.
Kiggundu has since down-played the news announcing his demise and disclosed he is alive.
Through his official whatsapp contact, Kiggundu questioned the motive of the club CEO before confirming he is alive and set to return back home soon.
I have got so many messages from people asking me if i am really dead.
It is too sad that the CEO claimed I am dead. I am alive and healthy now in Dubai. I will return home this coming week.
As a result, FUFA Competitions Director, Ali Mwebe has also issued an apologetic statement to the media and clubs questioning the moral authority and purpose of such a hoax.
I write this Morning Sunday 9th April 2017 to inform you of the ‘false’ communication from Kyambogo FC, announcing death of one player Kiggundu Ronald who is registered for the club for season 2016/17.
We have this morning learned that the ‘death announcement’ was false and cannot establish motive of the club.
The Competitions Department wishes to apologize over the earlier communication sent titled ‘Change of Maroons vs Kyambogo match’ The match number 268 Maroons vs Kyambogo shall not take place, the matter has this morning been referred to Competent FUFA Bodies for further action.
Kyambogo, which lingers in the relegation zone of the Elgon group will now come face to face with the FUFA Disciplinary committee for serious questioning.
Maroons who needed just a draw from their home against Kyambogo, will have to wait for at least another week or so when they take on Busia Fisheries in the next match.
