The Tornado B and KICC game didn’t live up to its anticipated hype turning out to be a no contest for Tornado B.
The game was a real mirror of how poor the local league is with the top 2 teams playing out only 48 overs in total.
KICC put down lots of catches while defending their meager score with only Tornado B looking like they wanted to play.
These are things that need to be sorted out if Uganda is to gain promotion out of Divison 4 next year, as both teams boast of national team players.
Cricket Cranes skipper Davis Karashani, Frank Nsubuga turn out for KICC while Roger Mukasa, Deus Muhumuza, and Charles Waiswa play for Tornado B.
KICC had only Adballah from kenya to count on and regular skipper Hanumatt Kathkar was missing because of other engagements. Tornado B had the Obuya brothers David and Kenneth for this game as well as welcoming back Deus Muhumuza and Roger Mukasa from national duty.
KICC won the toss and chose to bat 1st on a dump wicket.
Tornado B must have been the happier of the 2 teams as KICC was quickly reduced to 32/6 with Charles Waiswa being the destroyer in chief picking up 5/34 in his 9 Overs. KICC could only manage to post 97 all out in 25 overs with Sharif Suleiman saving his team with a gutsy 47 runs.
Tornado B easily knocked these off with Roger Mukasa unbeaten on 31 with David Obuya and Akbar Baig supporting with 28 and 23 respectively.
At Kyambogo, Irfan Afridi continued his rich vain of form, scoring 85 and picking 4/32 to help Challengers beat stubborn Kutchi tigers by 59 runs.
Challengers posted 227 all out in 49 overs before dismissing Kutchi Tigers for 168 all out. Kucthi looked on course for a win after being 102/2 in 20 overs but the wheels came off later as they couldn’t read Afridi’s mystery spin. Arthur Kyobe continued his barren run with the bat only managing to score 10 runs.
In Buddo, over 500 runs were scored in a Division 2 game with Premeir beating Strikers by 1 wicket. Strikers set a mammoth 285 with John Tumusiime (65) and Ronald Opio as the heavy contributors but Premier managed to snatch the win by 1 wicket with Madipp Singh (44) and Ramesh Chitadara (61) helping them overhaul the total.
In Jinja, Jinja SS got their 1st win of the season defeating SKPLS by 5 wickets. SKPLS only managed 57 all out, Jinja SS never in trouble despite losing 5 wickets.
Here are the results in summary.
