Uganda football fans willing to travel for the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia have to worry not about the visa fees.

This follows a waiver by the Government of the Russian Federation.

In a formal letter written to Uganda authorities through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spectators willing to go for the World Cup in Russua will not pay for their visa fees.

This has been confirmed by Margaret Awino Kafeero, the head of Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign affairs.

The same free visa entry services have also been extended to the ongoing FIFA Confederations Cup 2017, she added.

We are in receipt of an official communication by the Government of the Russian Federation through its Embassy in Kampala about Visa requirements for spectators of the above events in the Russian Federation, which states as that:

Period of visa free entry:

The stipulated period for the visa free entry of the spectators who traveled for the FIFA Confederations Cup started on the 12th June 2017 as that of the 2018 FIFA World Cup will be communicated in the due course.

The period of the visa-free entry for the spectators of the FIFA Football World Cup 2018 will be communicated in due course.

The Embassy of the Russian Federation has requested that the above information be availed to the general public, all air carriers operating in Uganda as well as border and immigration control authorities.
