Ugandan goalie Mathias Kigonya has made Stanley Okumbi squad for Kenya Premier League All Stars Team to play friendly matches in Spain.

The former Bright Stars tactician is the only Ugandan on the 18-man squad set to travel to Spain next week.

The Sofapaka goalkeeper has been in fine form since joining the Batoto Ba Mungu last season and is one of the reasons the club lies 6th on the KPL log after 15 games.

“I am really happy to be part of this team,” a delighted Kigonya told www.sofapaka.co.ke. “Indeed hard work never stops paying. I am delighted to get involved here and am hoping that we will get results in Spain,” he added.

The All Stars team lost to England side Hull City last year and Kigonya, who wasn’t part of the squad, then says they need to have a right mentality to get good results in Spain.

We need to make sure we have the right mentality all along. They are going to be difficult games but I have believe in this team. We had little time to train but I believe we can go and write history because in football there is always hope.

Ugandan footballers make the largest chunk of foreign players in Kenya with over 30 players plying their trade in the top tier.
