Halid Lwaliwa is already back at Kitende to step up rehabilitation on an injury as he nears a return to full fitness.
The Vipers SC defender suffered a medial collateral ligament tear in his right knee while on national duty in Fort Portal with Uganda Cranes on ‘Cranes Namutima’ tour.
Although no timescale has been placed on his return, the reigning Uganda Premier League defender of the year returned to light training under the watchful eye of team doctor Mathias Kasagga.
“It has to be a slow start that involves running, stretching among other simple and light exercises,” team physio Kasagga explained to the club’s official website.
These are purposely for building confidence and agility which are very important now.
The defender however isn’t under any pressure to return to the pitch as he focuses on recovery before thinking about playing again.
(The) will is still unbroken, that time will come, I believe. For now my primary focus is to get my fitness back.
Lwaliwa is regarded as arguably the best centre back in the country at the moment.
