Uganda Cranes Coach Louis Serge Desabre was left disappointed after his side lost 3-1 to Zambia in their CHAN opener but knows where to improve.

Desabre’s side started well and could have taken the lead inside fifteen minutes but Allan Kyambadde shot direct at goalie Toaster Nsabata.

We had a good start and had a chance to open the scores early in the game,” Desabre told reporters after the game. “The first half was 50-50. It is disappointing we had a lot of chances, but couldn’t convert,” he added.

It was an open game and Zambia played fast attacking game and my team controlled. The second half was difficult for my players physically in the opening 25 minutes. Then we conceded and the third goal was as a result of a mistake by our goalkeeper (Benjamin Ochan). We showed quality and good organization.

The French man who has now managed three games without victory on the team says Cranes will have to improve the physical aspect of the game in their remaining two group games.

We have two more games left and I will try to improve the physical aspect of our play.

The former Wydad, Ismaily and ASEC Mimosas coach also admitted he still has to learn his players after just ten days (though it’s over 17 days now since he was named) in charge.

I’m still discovering my players after taking charge 10 days ago. It is always difficult to start with a competition of this magnitude.

He also had kind words for Derrick Nsibambi’s spectacular strike that later turned consolation.

It was a nice goal from Derrick Nsibambi; unfortunately it was not decisive.

Uganda Cranes return to action on Thursday against Namibia who outfoxed Ivory Coast 1-0 in their opening game.
